-WHY
- Everlane’s mission reflects the idea of making a difference in the fashion industry. With the fashion industry being one of the top producers of trash in the world, accounting for 6.7% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, and garments being the second highest at-risk product category for modern slavery, Everlane wants to make a difference.
- Everlane coined the motto, “Our way: Exceptional Quality. Ethical Factories. Radical Transparency.”
- Focuses on creating quality clothing that’s going to last for decades over quick trends that fade
- Prices
- Everlane has the costs of materials, labor, and transportation of each product available to their customers
- Show the markup of a traditional product and show their markup
- An Everlane T-Shirt is $15 while the average retail store is priced at $55
-HOW
- Factories
- Spend a significant amount of time searching for the top factories in the world
- Create positive relationships with factory owners
- Visit the factories often
- Factories have fair wages, hours and clean, safe environments
- Everlane’s radical transparency and ethical factories is evident in there website disclosing the stories of each factory that creates their products. Their website shows the location and name of each factory that works to create their products, number of employees in each factory, the year of its establishment, photographs of the factory, about the owner of the factory, and the employees spend their lunch times. Some factories of Everlane have efforts in reducing carbon emissions, water, and waste.
